The RV Resort TX in Alvarado, Texas, is a big-rig-friendly full-service resort on I-35W in Johnson County — a well-amenitied campground with an outdoor pool, dog park, mini-golf course, clean restrooms and showers, and on-site laundry that serves both the I-35W through-travel market and the destination visitor seeking a comfortable base in the Fort Worth-to-Waco corridor of north-central Texas. Alvarado's Johnson County position on I-35W, 30 miles south of Fort Worth, gives guests the practical interstate access of a major Texas transportation corridor alongside the proximity to the Cross Timbers and Blackland Prairie recreational landscape of Johnson and Somervell Counties that Cleburne State Park, Dinosaur Valley State Park, and the Glen Rose fossil and wildlife attraction district specifically represent. Full-hookup big-rig-friendly RV sites with an outdoor pool, dog park, mini-golf, modern bathrooms and showers, and laundry give the resort the complete daily comfort infrastructure that both through-travelers on the I-35W corridor and extended-stay destination guests specifically require — the pool and dog park give the campground's leisure and pet-travel market the on-site amenities that differentiate a resort from a utility truck stop, and the big-rig accessibility ensures that the full range of coach and fifth-wheel rigs can navigate and level within the site layout. The resort's welcoming character reflects its I-35W market position. Pets are welcome. Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, 30 miles west of Alvarado in Somervell County, preserves the most significant and most accessible exposed dinosaur trackways in North America — the Paluxy River's limestone riverbed contains sauropod and theropod dinosaur footprints from 113 million years ago, visible in the river channel at normal water levels and accessible by walking the river bottom in the park's wading areas. The trackways' combination of physical accessibility, geological authenticity, and the specific scale of the individual prints — sauropod tracks reaching three feet in diameter — give the Glen Rose site the dinosaur encounter character that no museum diorama can replicate. The park's swimming, camping, and mountain biking extend the visit beyond the trackways. Cleburne State Park, eight miles northwest of Alvarado in Johnson County, preserves the Cross Timbers' cedar and hardwood terrain on the shores of a 116-acre spring-fed lake in a Civilian Conservation Corps-built state park whose stone and timber facilities, swimming beach, fishing pier, and hiking trails through the cedar brake and live oak upland give it the specific rustic authenticity that the CCC's 1930s construction standards sustained across the Texas state park system. The park's accessible location from the Fort Worth metro makes it one of the most consistently visited state parks in the DFW day-trip range, and the spring-fed lake's consistent water clarity gives it quality that the area's other reservoirs, subject to the Blackland Prairie's turbid agricultural runoff, cannot match. The RV Resort TX serves guests year-round in Johnson County's temperate north Texas climate, where the mild winters attract the southbound I-35W traveler and snowbird market and the spring and fall seasons provide the most comfortable conditions for the Cross Timbers and Somervell County day-trip range that Glen Rose and Cleburne State Park sustain. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, 35 miles west in Glen Rose, operates the most comprehensive drive-through wildlife conservation safari experience in Texas — a 1,800-acre open-range facility with giraffe, white rhino, cheetah, and 1,100 animals of 55 threatened and endangered species in a drive-through format that gives guests the direct wildlife proximity that the natural range behavior of the free-ranging herd provides. Reserve sites ahead for summer peak and the Fort Worth area's major events calendar.
