Lone Ranger RV Park & Lodge
Ranger, Texas
23 RV Sites
In the heart of the Palo Pinto Mountain country of north-central Texas, Lone Ranger RV Park & Lodge brings a genuine sense of character and history to the RV camping experience. Located in the small West Texas community of Ranger, the property features restored 1930s lodges, a resort-style pool with LED lighting, waterfalls, and fountains, authentic vintage neon signs that light up the Texas night sky, an on-site bar and cafe operation with Gulf Burgers and Kemosabe Coffee & Wine Bar, and specialized horse pens that accommodate guests traveling with equine companions. It's a destination with real personality, and that personality is distinctly Texan.
Full hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp service accommodate a range of rig sizes, while the restored 1930s one-bedroom lodges offer a turnkey alternative with kitchen, air conditioning, and WiFi—sleeping four guests in genuine vintage character that no new-build lodge can replicate. The resort pool surrounded by a large deck with lounge chairs and sunset views is one of the standout features, and the adjacent Tonto's Candy & Ice Cream stand and Kemosabe Coffee & Wine Bar keep poolside refreshments handled. A lobby with a stone fireplace, pool table, board games, books, and WiFi creates a comfortable social gathering space inside, and a community fire pit, wedding venue, outdoor pavilion, and library round out the amenities. Horse pens with dedicated RV hookups serve the equestrian traveling community, a niche this part of Texas serves particularly well.
The Palo Pinto Mountain landscape around Ranger provides the rugged, oak-and-cedar hill country scenery that defines west-central Texas at its most appealing. The ridgelines visible from the park have a particular character at dusk—silhouetted against wide Texas skies with the light fading in oranges and reds across the horizon—and stargazing from a dark spot at the edge of the property is outstanding. The community of Ranger carries a fascinating oil boom history from the early twentieth century when a major petroleum discovery briefly made it one of the most talked-about towns in Texas, and the old downtown preserves some of that architectural legacy.
Possum Kingdom Lake—one of Texas's most beautiful reservoirs, known for its crystal-clear water and dramatic limestone bluffs—is the primary nearby water destination, easily reachable from the park for a day of boating, swimming, or fishing. Nearby wine and craft beer tasting operations have established themselves in the Palo Pinto country, adding a culinary dimension to the regional outing. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, the newest addition to the Texas State Parks system, brings additional hiking access, and the broader Fort Worth and DFW area lies within a comfortable drive for city day trips when the mood strikes.
Lone Ranger RV Park & Lodge is open year-round and sees its strongest demand during warmer months when the pool, the outdoor spaces, and the proximity to Possum Kingdom Lake combine most effectively. Whether you're traveling with horses, looking for a lodge with genuine personality, headed to Possum Kingdom, or simply searching for a destination in the Palo Pinto country with real character, Lone Ranger delivers something difficult to replicate. Book your site and settle into a side of Texas most travelers never find.
