Rivers Edge RV Park and Campground in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, is a spacious, tree-shaded riverside retreat along the Juniata River in Juniata County — a full-hookup campground with a river deck and the easy, unhurried pace of the Juniata River valley's agricultural and woodland landscape in central Pennsylvania's ridge and valley country. Mifflintown's Juniata County position on the Juniata River, 15 miles east of Lewistown, gives Rivers Edge the specific rural Pennsylvania character of a river town campground where the river deck is the defining social space — the place where guests settle with coffee at morning and cold drinks at sunset to watch the Juniata's current in the specific quiet that a tree-shaded riverside campground in a rural Pennsylvania valley specifically provides. The campground's name and its river deck identity reflect the genuine centrality of the Juniata River experience to the property's appeal. Full-hookup RV sites with shade trees, the river deck, and the spacious site layout give Rivers Edge the comfortable riverside infrastructure that the Juniata County campground's repeat visitors specifically return for — the shade and the riverside access on a full-hookup site give summer guests the cooling combination that Pennsylvania's July and August heat makes specifically valuable, and the river deck's social character gives the campground the communal gathering space that the individual hookup site's privacy otherwise inhibits. Pets are welcome. The Juniata River, one of the Susquehanna River's most significant tributaries, flows east through Juniata and Mifflin Counties in a valley of ridge and valley topography that Jacks Mountain, Shade Mountain, and Tuscarora Mountain frame on either side of the river's flood plain — a river whose smallmouth bass, walleye, and muskie fishery sustains the Juniata County angling community, and whose float fishing by canoe and kayak through the riffle and pool sequences between Mifflintown and Lewistown gives the stretch its specific float fishing appeal for the central Pennsylvania bass and muskie market. The Juniata's water quality, sustained by the largely agricultural watershed's relatively low industrial loading, gives the river the clear-water bass fishing character that spring float trips specifically reward. Raystown Lake, 30 miles south of Mifflintown in Huntingdon County, is the largest lake entirely within Pennsylvania — a 29-mile Army Corps of Engineers impoundment with 118 miles of shoreline whose muskellunge, walleye, and trout fishery, the Seven Points Marina's houseboat rental operation, and the Allegrippis Trail's nationally recognized mountain bike singletrack give the Huntingdon County reservoir the outdoor recreation depth that extends Rivers Edge's day-trip range into the most comprehensively developed lake recreation resource in central Pennsylvania. Rivers Edge RV Park and Campground serves guests through Juniata County's four-season Pennsylvania climate, with the spring trout and bass fishing season from April through June and the summer float trip and the swimming hole river recreation from July through August representing the two primary Juniata River outdoor recreation windows. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon at Leonard Harrison State Park in Tioga County, 75 miles north, provides the Pine Creek Gorge's dramatic viewshed across the 1,450-foot canyon in the most spectacular and most frequently photographed geological landscape in Pennsylvania. Mifflintown's quiet courthouse square and the Juniata County historical society's collections give the campground guests the small-county-seat culture that the rural Pennsylvania ridge and valley tradition sustains. Reserve sites ahead for the spring fishing season and summer peak weekends.
