Cortez RV Resort in Cortez, CO, offers 46 full-hookup RV sites, 12 cabins, and 23 tent sites, with 20, 30, and 50-amp service and room for rigs up to 65 feet. Site categories cover the range: back-in sites, back-in 20/30-amp water-and-electric sites, pull-thru 30-amp, pull-thru 30/50-amp water-and-electric, and premium pull-thru 50-amp. The resort keeps guests busy between park days: an outdoor pool, a water park, a recreation center, a clubhouse with billiards, a playground, basketball, horseshoes, a boutique shop, and walking trails through the grounds, plus a lake, pond, and beach area for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Golf is nearby, and the dark skies make for good stargazing. Cortez sits in Montezuma County in the Four Corners, at the gateway to Mesa Verde National Park and one of the densest concentrations of Ancestral Puebloan sites anywhere. Rates for sites, cabins, and tent spots are on the booking page. Summer, when Mesa Verde is at its busiest, books first.

Four Seasons River Inn & RV Park

14 RV Sites, 4 Tent Sites

Four Seasons River Inn & RV Park in Delta, CO, offers 14 full-hookup RV sites and 4 tent sites, with 30 and 50-amp service and room for rigs up to 45 feet. The park publishes both back-in and pull-thru site categories, each carrying water, sewer, and electric; confirm which layout you're booking when you reserve. Laundry, a bathhouse with showers, a dump station, propane fills, and RV storage cover the practical side, with cabins available for guests without a rig. Pets are welcome, with a dog park. River frontage and walking trails make up the on-site recreation, and the campground works as a full-service base rather than a destination in itself. Delta sits at the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre rivers in western Colorado, within reach of Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Grand Mesa, the Million Dollar Highway, OHV trails, rafting, and skiing — and there's still a drive-in theater in town. Rates for sites and tent spots are on the booking page. Ask about RV storage if you're basing here for a season.

Gateway To The Petrified Forest RV Resort

31 RV Sites, 7 Tent Sites

Gateway to the Petrified Forest RV Resort in Holbrook, Arizona, offers 31 full-hookup pull-through RV sites and seven tent sites with 30 and 50-amp service, sized for rigs to 45 feet, 22 miles from Petrified Forest National Park. Every RV site is pull-through — the right configuration for a park-touring stop on the Route 66 and I-40 corridor. Thirty-one pull-through sites carry water, sewer, and electric on 30 and 50-amp, sized to 45 feet, with water-and-electric pull-through options also available. Seven tent sites cover dry camping. A general store handles supplies, and a community fire pit anchors the evenings. The gravel lots are sized for rigs of most configurations. Pets are welcome. On-site facilities are practical rather than extensive — this is a national park base rather than a destination resort, and guests spend their days out in the painted desert country. The community fire pit and shaded picnic areas cover the campground socializing that suits a park-visitor property. The distances are what matter here. Petrified Forest National Park is 22 miles, the Painted Desert 42 miles, and Winslow — where you can stand on the corner and visit the La Posada museum and restaurant — is 41 miles, all on the historic Route 66 alignment. Holbrook itself carries genuine Wild West character in the architecture and streets around the park entrance, which makes it more than a waypoint. The resort operates on the I-40 corridor year-round. Spring and fall deliver the most comfortable conditions for walking the petrified forest and painted desert, and those shoulder seasons carry the heaviest demand. Reserve ahead for March through May and September through October.
