Bexar Cave RV Park
Fletcher, Oklahoma
15 RV Sites
5.01 reviewsSituated in Fletcher, Oklahoma, in the rolling plains of Comanche and Grady Counties south of Oklahoma City, Bexar Cave RV Park provides a well-equipped small-scale camping option that doubles as a practical basecamp for exploring one of the most historically significant corridors in the southern Great Plains. The park's location in southwestern Oklahoma places it within easy reach of Fort Sill, the Wichita Mountains, and the preserved sites associated with the Comanche Nation's storied history in this part of the country.
The park offers 12 RV sites equipped with 30 and 50-amp electrical hookups, water, and sewer connections alongside high-speed internet access—a complete hookup package that supports comfortable stays of multiple nights without requiring guests to manage utility logistics independently. On-site laundry and shower facilities handle the practical needs of guests on longer trips, and the pet-friendly policy with leash requirements allows travelers with dogs to bring their animals for the duration of their stay. The park's modest size gives it a quieter character compared to larger commercial campgrounds on the I-44 corridor to the north.
The landscape surrounding Fletcher is defined by the gently rolling red-clay and shortgrass terrain of the Washita River watershed—a transitional zone between the rolling plains of central Oklahoma and the more rugged terrain of the Wichita Mountains to the southwest. The open sky and wide horizon that characterize this part of southwest Oklahoma create favorable conditions for sunset viewing and stargazing, and the area's agricultural and ranching heritage gives it a rural authenticity that travelers seeking a break from interstate-adjacent campgrounds consistently notice.
Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum, a short drive from Fletcher, preserves the history of the U.S. Army's frontier-era post and is the burial site of Geronimo—the Apache leader who surrendered at Fort Sill in 1886 and spent his final years as a prisoner of war on the fort's grounds. The nearby Quanah Parker Star House and Medicine Bluff—the volcanic rock formation sacred to the Comanche people that overlooks the Wichita Mountains—add additional historic and natural dimensions to day trips in the region. Local trading posts including Discovery Outpost and the White Buffalo Trading Post offer Native American crafts and regional souvenirs.
Bexar Cave RV Park is open year-round, with spring and fall offering the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor exploration of the Fort Sill area and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge to the west. Summer heat in southwest Oklahoma is significant, and the park's electrical hookups supporting air conditioning make warm-weather stays viable. The park's straightforward site design and complete hookup infrastructure make it a practical overnight stop for travelers on southwest Oklahoma routes as well as a multi-night base for regional exploration. The park's name references the cave system present in the area, a geological feature of the Arbuckle uplift region that underlies parts of southwestern Oklahoma and gives the landscape a character distinct from the flat plains terrain farther west and north in the state.
