Sun Outdoors Wells Beach

Wells, Maine

109 RV Sites, 29 Tent Sites, 8 Cottages

One mile from the Atlantic at Wells Beach on the Southern Maine coast—in York County where the Kennebunk River, the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge's salt marshes, and the working-lobster and summer-resort character of the York-to-Kennebunkport shoreline create the most accessible and least overcrowded stretch of the Maine coast within two hours of Boston—Sun Outdoors Wells Beach provides full hookup RV and tent sites with cable TV, patio, and fire ring at each position, an outdoor pool, an 18-hole mini golf course, a fitness center, a playground, a general store, sports courts, a game room, laundry, showers, and the town trolley service that stops at the resort entrance and connects the property to Wells Beach, Ogunquit Beach, Perkins Cove, and the broader York County resort community without requiring the car that the summer parking competition makes genuinely difficult to use productively. The trolley stops here. The beach is one mile. Full hookup sites with cable TV, fire ring, and patio position provide the platform that the Sun Outdoors network's resort standard delivers—level, serviced, and connected to the outdoor pool, fitness center, mini golf, sports courts, and game room that create the on-property activity for the inevitable rainy Maine morning before the beach afternoon. The 18-hole mini golf course, outdoor pool, playground, and game room keep the family property's activity inventory full across the age range, and the town trolley's stop at the resort entrance creates the car-free beach access that eliminates the Ogunquit summer parking premium during the July and August peak. The general store, laundry, and showers handle the daily practical needs. Wells sits in York County on US-1 between Kennebunk and Ogunquit, in the Southern Maine beach community where the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge's 5,600 acres of salt marsh—protecting the most ecologically significant coastal wetland system in Southern Maine—and the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm's 1,600 acres of estuarine research reserve create the natural conservation overlay on the resort shoreline community. Wells Beach and Drakes Island Beach provide the area's primary public beach access, and the Webhannet River's tidal estuary on the south end of Drakes Island creates the sea kayaking and birding that the wildlife refuge's managed habitat sustains. Ogunquit, 5 miles south, provides the Marginal Way's one-mile cliff-walk above the tidal coves and sea stacks of Perkins Cove—the most photographed mile of Maine coastline accessible by foot—alongside Ogunquit Beach's three-mile barrier beach spit, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and the Barnacle Billy's and Perkins Cove's lobster pound restaurants that the summer resort economy organizes around. Kennebunkport, 8 miles north on US-1, provides the Bush family's Walker's Point summer estate, Dock Square's boutique shopping and galleries, and the Kennebunk and Kennebunkport beaches that anchor the northern end of York County's resort corridor. Sun Outdoors Wells Beach operates seasonally through the Southern Maine summer, with the Memorial Day to Columbus Day window covering the primary beach season and the July and August peak delivering the full trolley service frequency and the Ogunquit summer activity calendar. The shoulder seasons in June and September provide the most comfortable conditions for the active guest whose interests extend beyond peak-season beach access. Reserve your site at Sun Outdoors Wells Beach and let the Atlantic mile, the trolley to Ogunquit, and the Rachel Carson refuge's salt marsh deliver the Southern Maine shore experience that York County's resort coast provides at its most accessible.
