5.01 reviewsBayshore RV Park and Guest Suites in Tokeland, Washington, provides a beachfront camping and lodging retreat on Willapa Bay's southern shore in Pacific County, where one of the purest and most pristine coastal estuaries in North America meets the wild Pacific Ocean beaches of the Long Beach Peninsula in a remote and environmentally exceptional corner of the Washington coast. Tokeland's tiny fishing village character—permanent population of a few hundred—and its position at the tip of a peninsula extending into Willapa Bay create an atmosphere of genuine coastal remoteness that Pacific Northwest travelers seeking the undeveloped coastal experience prize above the more accessible but more crowded destinations of the Olympic Peninsula and the Oregon coast's major towns.
The park provides full hookup RV sites alongside guest suites for travelers who prefer enclosed lodging in this remote coastal location, with a comprehensive indoor recreation package suited to the Pacific Northwest's frequent overcast and rainy weather: a game room with billiards, arcade, shuffleboard, ping pong, and corn hole provide organized entertainment during the coastal fog and drizzle that characterize Willapa Bay's maritime climate for much of the year. A general store, firewood, propane fills, beach access, playground, laundry, Wi-Fi, and recreation center complete the facility, and the pet-friendly policy accommodates the beach dogs that Pacific Northwest coastal camping invariably includes.
Willapa Bay is one of the least-polluted estuaries in the United States, a designation it maintains through the combination of low surrounding population density, minimal industrial development, and the protective management of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge that encompasses much of the bay's island and shoreline habitat. The bay produces the oysters that have made Willapa Bay one of the country's most celebrated oyster growing regions, with the Pacific oyster farms extending across the tidal flats in a productive aquaculture industry that has operated since the nineteenth century Japanese immigrant farmers established the techniques that modern producers still employ.
The Long Beach Peninsula, directly accessible via US-101 north of Tokeland, extends 28 miles from Seaview to Leadbetter Point in the longest continuous ocean beach in North America, where the Lewis and Clark National Historical Trail's Dismal Nitch campsite and the World Kite Museum in Long Beach provide historical and cultural attractions alongside the open Pacific surf. Willapa National Wildlife Refuge's Bear River Unit and Leadbetter Point Unit protect shorebird habitat at the peninsula's tip where migratory shorebird concentrations during spring and fall migration create some of the Pacific Coast's most impressive bird spectacles. The Tokeland Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in Washington State, provides historical ambiance and dining within walking distance of the park.
Bayshore RV Park operates year-round in Willapa Bay's temperate maritime climate, where the Pacific Ocean's thermal moderation keeps temperatures within a remarkably narrow annual range—rarely below freezing in winter, rarely above 70 degrees in summer—and the consistent marine layer and coastal precipitation define the Pacific Northwest coast's characteristic moody atmosphere that attracts the writers, painters, and nature-oriented travelers who value atmosphere and ecological integrity over sunshine and resort amenities. The Dungeness crab season and the razor clam harvest season during favorable negative tides represent the most activity-specific reasons for winter and early spring visits to this remote and rewarding corner of coastal Washington.
