Rimrock Lake Resort
Naches, Washington
30 RV Sites, 5 Cabins
On Highway 12 at Rimrock Lake in Naches, Washington—12 miles east of White Pass Ski Area in the Tieton River canyon of Yakima County where the Cascades' eastern slope creates the transition landscape between the maritime-influenced western forests and the rain-shadow desert of the Columbia Plateau—Rimrock Lake Resort operates year-round with 27 campsites (12 full hookup sites, all with water and electric), two furnished cabins, a bare-bones cabin, a furnished condo and home rental, a boat ramp, a convenience store with propane, a diner, paddleboard and canoe rentals, laundry, showers, and the gasoline sales for boats, dirt bikes, and ATVs that the Tieton River canyon's motorized recreation demands in a resort whose Rimrock Lake position and White Pass proximity make it the four-season gateway for the skiing, boating, fishing, and Cascades hiking that the Naches corridor provides at the intersection of two of Washington's most rewarding recreational landscapes. Year-round operation is the differentiator here.
The 12 full hookup sites with 30-amp electric, water, and sewer serve the RV camper alongside the partial hookup and the tent-capable non-hookup sites that fill the 27-position total—water and electric at every site provides the minimum comfort standard regardless of position. Furnished cabins with the kitchen and bedding amenities that the drive-to destination requires, the bare-bones cabin for the minimalist, and the furnished condo and home options accommodate the group and the extended-stay guest whose Rimrock Lake visit extends beyond a weekend. The boat ramp provides direct Rimrock Lake access for the powerboat and fishing boat, the paddleboard and canoe rentals serve the non-motorized water recreation guest, and the gasoline sales accommodate the full spectrum of motorized recreation that the Tieton canyon's ATV trails and the lake's power boating enable. The on-site diner and convenience store, with propane filling, handle the food and fuel logistics that a year-round mountain resort requires.
Rimrock Lake—the Tieton Dam's reservoir on the Tieton River at 2,920 feet in the Cascade foothills—provides the 1,400-acre surface for the fishing, sailing, and the power boating that the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife manages for rainbow and German brown trout in the Tieton system. The lake's east Cascades position in the Yakima River watershed creates the clear-water, pine-and-fir-forested environment that the western Cascade lakes at lower elevation and higher precipitation share, with the rain-shadow drier character of the eastern slope producing clearer skies and more predictable summer weather than the west side's marine influence.
White Pass Ski Area, 12 miles west on US-12, operates on the Cascades crest at 4,500 feet with 37 trails, 6 lifts, and a consistent Cascade snowpack that makes the White Pass area one of Washington's most reliably snow-covered ski destinations from December through March. The Chinook Pass corridor and the William O. Douglas Wilderness beyond create the summer hiking and wilderness access that the Cascades' most direct connection between the Yakima Valley and the Rainier-area peaks provides. Mount Rainier National Park, accessible via SH-410 through Chinook Pass or via US-12 to Packwood and the Stevens Canyon entrance, lies within 60 miles of the resort.
Rimrock Lake Resort's year-round operation serves the White Pass skiing community from December through March, the spring fishing opener crowd in April when the Tieton's trout season begins, the boating and hiking season from May through September, and the fall hunting season in October when the Tieton canyon's elk and deer populations draw the eastern Washington hunting community to the resort. Reserve your site or cabin at Rimrock Lake Resort and let the Cascades' eastern-slope lake, the White Pass access, and the year-round mountain resort character of the Tieton canyon make Naches the Yakima-area base camp your Cascades itinerary requires.
