Rio RV Park

Wallisville, Texas

40 RV Sites

Texas's Gulf Coast interior is one of the state's most underappreciated landscapes — where the Trinity River fans out toward Trinity Bay, where egrets and roseate spoonbills pick across shallow marshes at dawn, and where the fishing is exceptional without the beach-town crowds that characterize the coast's resort destinations. Rio RV Park sits in the heart of this territory in Wallisville, Texas, offering a practical and comfortable base for travelers who want reliable infrastructure and immediate access to one of the state's richest wildlife and outdoor recreation corridors. Sites at Rio RV Park include both pull-through and back-in options with 30- and 50-amp full hookup service — water, sewer, and electric. Showers, laundry facilities, and bathrooms on-site handle the basics well. Free Wi-Fi keeps connected travelers covered. A fenced dog park and on-site playground make the park workable for families with children and pets. RV and boat storage is available for guests who need to leave rigs or watercraft secured while they explore the region. The park also offers propane exchange and a dump station for self-sufficient travelers. The park sits on Turtle Bayou, and the fishing possibilities begin right at the property. The bayou connects to the broader Trinity Bay estuary, a productive fishery for redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. The Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, just minutes from the park, protects tens of thousands of acres of bottomland hardwood forest and wetlands that support extraordinary biodiversity. Birdwatching here is exceptional during spring and fall migration, when the coastal prairies and bayou forests funnel enormous concentrations of songbirds and shorebirds through the region. Wallisville Heritage Park, just down the road, preserves the history of one of Texas's oldest settlements, with a museum, cemetery, and the preserved remains of early colonial infrastructure that predate the modern town. The Trinity Bay and Galveston Bay complex extends to the south, putting Galveston Island's beaches, Moody Gardens, and the Bolivar Peninsula within reasonable day-trip range. The Houston metropolitan area — with all its museums, sports venues, and urban dining options — is accessible via I-10 East. For a closer day trip, the historic town of Beaumont offers the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum, which tells the story of the 1901 oil strike that launched the modern petroleum industry. Rio RV Park is open year-round, and the Gulf Coast climate makes winter camping particularly appealing for visitors from northern states. Spring brings spectacular wildflower blooms across the surrounding Texas coastal prairies. Summer is hot and humid, with fishing activity peaking in the early mornings and evenings. For travelers who prioritize fishing, birdwatching, or simply an authentic taste of the Texas Gulf Coast's natural character over resort amenities, Rio RV Park delivers exactly what the region has to offer. This stretch of the Gulf Coast rewards travelers willing to skip the resort beaches in favor of marshes, wildlife refuges, and some of the most productive fishing water in Texas.
