Lake Palo Pinto RV Park and Marina in Palo Pinto, Texas, is a waterfront camping and boating destination on the shores of Lake Palo Pinto in Palo Pinto County — a lakeside resort with full-hookup RV sites and tent camping, 20/30/50-amp service, large pull-through sites, and marina access to the 2,373-acre Palo Pinto Creek reservoir in the Cross Timbers country west of Fort Worth, where the cedar and live oak-covered escarpment of Palo Pinto County's terrain gives the lake its specific rugged, remote character distinct from the developed suburban reservoirs of the DFW eastern corridor. The marina access and the waterfront site positioning give guests the direct boat-to-campsite convenience that lake resort camping specifically enables for the angling and boating family whose equipment includes a boat as well as an RV. Full-hookup RV sites and tent camping with 20/30/50-amp service, large pull-through capability, and marina access give Lake Palo Pinto RV Park the comprehensive water-recreation campground infrastructure for both the self-contained family and the fishing tournament-focused angler whose equipment requires the full-service hookup and the direct marina convenience. The waterfront site positions give guests the evening sunset-over-the-lake experience that the west-facing Palo Pinto County landscape delivers across the Cross Timbers cedar country. Pets are welcome. Lake Palo Pinto, impounded by the Palo Pinto Creek dam in Palo Pinto County, is a smaller reservoir than the larger West Texas lakes but sustains a productive warm-water fishery for largemouth bass, catfish, white bass, crappie, and sunfish in the clear, slightly cooler water that the Cross Timbers escarpment's groundwater contribution provides. The lake's modest development and the rural Palo Pinto County setting give it the small-lake intimacy and the natural shoreline character that the larger commercial recreation lakes of the DFW corridor cannot maintain at their development scale — the cedar-covered bluffs, the occasional white-tailed deer at the water's edge, and the quiet of a lake without the jet ski and wakeboard boat concentration of the larger suburban reservoirs give Palo Pinto Lake the specific character that a smaller county reservoir in the Cross Timbers sustains. Possum Kingdom Lake, 20 miles northwest of Palo Pinto in Palo Pinto and Young Counties, is the scenic centerpiece of the Brazos River basin recreation landscape — a 19,800-acre Brazos River Authority impoundment whose clear blue-green water, limestone canyon walls at Hell's Gate, and the established resort and marina infrastructure at Possum Kingdom State Park make it one of the most visually dramatic and most sought-after recreational lakes in north Texas. The lake's remarkable water clarity — the result of the clear Brazos River water filtered through the Palo Pinto County limestone watershed before impoundment — distinguishes it from the turbid Blackland Prairie reservoirs east of the Cross Timbers escarpment. Lake Palo Pinto RV Park serves guests year-round in Palo Pinto County's continental north Texas climate, where the spring bass fishing season from February through April and the summer boating and water recreation season from May through August represent the two primary visitor demand windows. Mineral Wells, 20 miles east of Palo Pinto in Palo Pinto County, is the historic Texas mineral spring resort community whose Crazy Water mineral baths sustained the early 20th-century health resort economy — the Crazy Water Hotel's restoration and the mineral water's continued bottling give the town a historical tourism character that the Palo Pinto County countryside day-trip extends to include the lake recreation. Reserve sites ahead for the spring bass fishing season and summer holiday weekends when the DFW market's drive-to lake camping fills the Palo Pinto County corridor.
