On the serene shores of Pigeon Lake in Bobcaygeon, Ontario—in the Kawartha Lakes region of central Ontario where the Trent-Severn Waterway's 240-mile navigable corridor between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay passes through the chain of interconnected lakes, lock stations, and river reaches that define Ontario's cottage country—Bobcaygeon Shores Cottage Resort, a Summerhill Resorts property, offers 244 tranquil lakeside sites for cottage and RV stays alongside a heated inground pool, brand-new docks, an on-site café, an off-leash dog park, and a multi-sports court in a resort unified from the former Lilac Lodge and Green Acres properties in 2024 to create one of the Kawartha Lakes' most complete lakeside resort experiences. Pigeon Lake's calm water, the Trent-Severn access, and the Bobcaygeon village character combine to make this the Kawartha cottage resort that the region's reputation promises. The resort's 244 lakeside sites encompass cottage accommodations with air conditioning, fully equipped kitchens, private bedrooms, dining areas, and patios with outdoor furniture for the genuine Kawartha cottage living experience, alongside RV sites on the Pigeon Lake waterfront that provide the hookup infrastructure and the lake access that the RV cottage-country traveler requires. Brand-new docks installed in 2022 provide the boat mooring and watercraft launch access that Pigeon Lake's extensive navigable surface demands, and the heated inground pool extends swimming season into the cooler spring and fall periods when the lake temperature makes pool swimming the more comfortable choice. An on-site café handles morning coffee and meals without requiring a drive to Bobcaygeon village, the off-leash dog park serves the traveling pets who enjoy the lake shore and the cottage country trails as much as any human guest, and the 2023 multi-sports court provides the structured recreation alternative to the lake's boating and fishing. Bobcaygeon sits on the Trent-Severn Waterway at the lock between Pigeon Lake and Sturgeon Lake in Kawartha Lakes—the community whose position on the waterway has made it the traditional hub of the central Kawarthas since the lock system's construction in the 19th century. The Trent-Severn Waterway's lock experience at Bobcaygeon Lock 32, where pleasure boats and vintage wooden launches transit the rise between Pigeon and Sturgeon Lakes in the lock chamber beside the town's waterfront park, provides the most visually accessible and socially active lock experience in the waterway system and draws waterway enthusiasts from across Ontario to watch the summer boat traffic. The Kawartha Lakes district's cottage country character—the Canadian Shield's pink granite outcrops beneath the clear lake water, the white pine and mixed hardwood forest on the lake shores, the loon calls at dusk and dawn—creates the quintessential Ontario summer experience that generations of Toronto families have pursued in a consistent cottage culture. Fenelon Falls, 20 minutes north, adds the Maryboro Lodge Museum and the falls at Lock 34. Peterborough, the regional city, houses the Peterborough Lift Lock—a National Historic Site that raises boats 65 feet in five minutes and one of Ontario's most impressive engineering achievements. Bobcaygeon Shores operates seasonally in the Kawartha Lakes' Ontario cottage country calendar, with the Victoria Day weekend in late May opening the cottage season and Thanksgiving weekend in October closing it in the traditional pattern that Ontario's cottage culture maintains. The July and August weeks on Pigeon Lake require early reservation in a resort whose lakeside position and the Trent-Severn access make it one of the most sought-after addresses in the Kawarthas. Reserve your cottage or lakeside site at Bobcaygeon Shores and let Pigeon Lake, the Trent-Severn Waterway, and the Kawartha Lakes' enduring Ontario cottage character deliver the summer lake experience that the region has been perfecting for over a century.
