Sandusky RV Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, is a full-service resort campground in Erie County with premium and executive pull-through sites, back-in accommodations, full hookups, and complimentary Wi-Fi — positioned in the Lake Erie port city that hosts Cedar Point, the most celebrated amusement park in the United States, giving guests the campground base for the multi-day Cedar Point experience that the resort's Sandusky location specifically enables within the short drive distance of the park's main gate. Sandusky's Erie County lakefront position also gives guests access to Lake Erie's island ferry system, the Lake Erie Islands' summer resort communities, and the western Lake Erie walleye fishery that sustains the most productive freshwater trophy walleye fishing in the Great Lakes basin.
Premium and executive pull-through sites alongside back-in accommodations with full hookups and Wi-Fi give Sandusky RV Resort the complete infrastructure for the Cedar Point visitor market whose multi-night stays generate the resort's primary summer demand. The executive site format reflects the premium amenity expectation of the Cedar Point destination camping market — families who have planned the Cedar Point trip well in advance and whose campground experience is the home base for the park experience expect the site quality and service consistency that the resort format specifically delivers alongside the park's proximity. Pets are welcome.
Cedar Point, the 364-acre amusement park on Lake Erie's Sandusky Bay peninsula, is the most consistently award-winning amusement park in the world — a Golden Ticket Award recipient for Best Amusement Park for 22 consecutive years that operates 18 roller coasters (the most at any amusement park in the world), including the Top Thrill 2 (strata coaster), the Millennium Force (giga coaster), and the Maverick (launched coaster), in a park whose 150-year operational history since 1870 makes it the second-oldest operating amusement park in North America. The park's 2.6 million annual visitors, the Breakers Hotel resort on the Lake Erie peninsula, and the Cedar Point Shores water park give the Cedar Point complex the full resort destination infrastructure.
The Lake Erie Islands, accessible by ferry from the Sandusky Boat Basin, include Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island — a summer resort community with the Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial (the world's most massive Doric column, commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813), the Heineman Winery and Crystal Cave (the world's largest geode, 35 feet wide), and the island's summer bar and restaurant economy that draws the greater Lake Erie basin's summer tourist market to the island ferries from May through October. Kelleys Island, the largest American freshwater island, preserves the Glacial Grooves State Memorial — the largest accessible glacial grooves in the world, carved 18,000 years ago by the Wisconsin Glacier.
Sandusky RV Resort serves guests through Erie County's Great Lakes camping season from spring through fall, with the Cedar Point operating season from May through November defining the campground's peak demand calendar. The western Lake Erie walleye fishery, concentrated in the reefs and shoals around the Lake Erie Islands from March through May, sustains one of the most productive trophy walleye spring runs in the Great Lakes — a fishery that draws charter boat anglers from across Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to the Sandusky Bay and the Lake Erie islands specifically for the spring walleye concentration that the western basin's productive shallow water sustains. Reserve premium sites many months ahead for the Cedar Point peak summer season and holiday weekends.
