Indian Lake RV Resort and Campground in Manistique, Michigan, offers lakeside camping on the serene shores of Indian Lake in Schoolcraft County — a campground positioned on the fourth-largest inland lake in Michigan with swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and the natural beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the Big Lakes country between Lake Michigan's north shore and the waterfalls and birch forest of the central UP. Manistique's Schoolcraft County position on Indian Lake gives guests the freshwater recreation access of a large inland lake alongside the extraordinary spring and scenic natural attractions that make the central Upper Peninsula one of the most rewarding and least-crowded outdoor destinations in the Great Lakes region. RV sites and camping accommodations along Indian Lake's shoreline give guests the direct lake access for the water recreation that a 8,400-acre inland lake specifically provides — the swimming beach, the paddling access across Indian Lake's calm interior waters, and the warm-water fishing for walleye, pike, and perch that the lake's size and depth support in a fishery that the Schoolcraft County inland lake network sustains. The campground's natural setting on Indian Lake's shore reflects the character of the Upper Peninsula's interior lake country, where the second-growth birch, aspen, and mixed conifer forest reaches to the water's edge at most undeveloped points along the shoreline. Pets are welcome. Kitch-iti-kipi, Michigan's largest natural freshwater spring, lies nine miles west of Manistique in Palms Book State Park — a 200-foot-wide, 40-foot-deep crystal-clear spring pool that discharges 10,000 gallons per minute of 45-degree water in a clarity so absolute that the spring's entire floor, the resident lake trout circling the vents, and the fallen logs slowly dissolving on the bottom are all visible from the park's self-operated observation raft. The raft crosses the spring pool on a hand-pulled cable and gives visitors the specific overhead perspective of the spring's interior that no shoreline viewpoint replicates — the visibility in the 45-degree water reaches the full 40-foot depth without distortion. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, 50 miles northeast of Manistique on Lake Superior's south shore in Alger County, protects 15 miles of the most photographed and most geologically dramatic Lake Superior shoreline in the Great Lakes — the multicolored Cambrian sandstone cliffs, arches, and sea caves of the Pictured Rocks themselves, the Grand Sable Dunes' 275-foot sand dunes, and the Miners Beach and Chapel Falls trail system that sustains one of Michigan's most complete hiking destinations in a national lakeshore of extraordinary visual variety. The water trail below the Pictured Rocks, paddled by kayak from Miners Beach to Munising, gives paddlers the specific cliff-level perspective of the sandstone formations that the cruise boat tour replicates at a different scale. Indian Lake RV Resort and Campground serves guests through Michigan's Upper Peninsula camping season from late spring through early fall, with the summer months from June through August providing the warmest water temperatures for swimming and paddling on Indian Lake and the peak fall color from late September through mid-October delivering the birch and maple foliage that the UP's hardwood-mixed conifer forest makes spectacular in its seasonal transition. The Manistique River, flowing through Schoolcraft County to Lake Michigan, sustains the steelhead and salmon fishing that UP river anglers target in the fall run season from September through November. Reserve sites well ahead for the peak summer season and the fall color period, when the Upper Peninsula's limited campground capacity fills from the Michigan Lower Peninsula and Wisconsin markets making the UP fall color trek.

It’s not really a resort, but it has nice level sites, both back in and pull thru, with full hookups. The best internet I’ve had at any campground recently, but we were right next to the office. It is right on Indian Lake, and is near Manistique, Kitchen-Iti-Kippi, and several nice restaurants. My only rea...Show more
