Poland Spring Campground

Poland, Maine

47 RV Sites, 8 Tent Sites

On the wooded shores of Lower Range Pond in the Oxford Hills of western Maine, Poland Spring Campground offers a lakefront camping experience rooted in classic New England simplicity. Located near the historic town of Poland—famous as the birthplace of Poland Spring water, one of America's earliest commercially bottled mineral springs—the campground pairs a beautiful natural setting with enough on-site recreation to keep the whole family busy for a long weekend or well beyond. The surrounding forests, clear lake water, and unhurried pace set the tone from the first morning. Wooded RV sites come equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and free WiFi, providing a comfortable base that balances connectivity with the camping experience. A swimming pool offers an alternative to the lake when the afternoon sun peaks, and a well-stocked snack shack handles the inevitable post-swim hunger. Boat rentals—kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats—make Lower Range Pond immediately accessible even for guests who didn't bring their own watercraft, and the boat launch is a convenient put-in for those who did. A recreation hall stocked with board games provides a social gathering spot on rainy days, while an arcade keeps younger guests occupied when outdoor options are limited. Planned activities run through the season to round out the schedule. Lower Range Pond is the quiet star of the property. The lake supports a healthy population of loons—their haunting calls a reliable part of the morning soundtrack—and bald eagles nest within viewing distance of the boat launch area, making early paddles a genuine wildlife event. Great blue herons work the shallows with characteristic patience, and the forested shoreline adds a wildness to the water that contrasts pleasantly with the campground's well-maintained amenities. Morning mist settling across the pond surface while the forest drips with dew is a particular Poland Spring phenomenon worth waking up early to experience. The surrounding region adds substantial depth to any stay. The Poland Spring Preservation Park interprets the fascinating history of the famous mineral water operation and provides scenic grounds for a short walk. Poland Mining Camp offers guided excursions to three working mineral mines—guests keep whatever specimens they find—making it a popular detour for rock hounds of all ages. Oxford Casino and Oxford Plains Speedway provide entertainment options for those inclined toward gaming or motorsports. The greater Oxford Hills area connects to a broader network of lakes and outdoor recreation, and Portland—Maine's vibrant coastal city—is within forty minutes for a day trip. Poland Spring Campground is a warm-weather operation that books up quickly for summer weekends, particularly for lakefront sites and the cabins closest to the water. The combination of a beautiful Maine lake, reliable wildlife encounters, and enough on-site activity to fill several days makes this a strong choice for families and outdoor-minded campers who want real substance behind the scenery. Reservations well in advance are worthwhile for peak season dates. Book early, arrive at the lake's edge, and let western Maine do what it does best.
