Miles Away Properties

Grand Isle, Louisiana

2 RV Sites

Perched on Touro Lane along the southern tip of Grand Isle, Louisiana, Miles Away Properties sits directly across from Elmer's Island—a protected wildlife refuge fronting the Gulf of Mexico—giving the property one of the most direct waterfront orientations of any RV park on Louisiana's Gulf Coast. The combination of Gulf access, barrier island scenery, and proximity to one of Louisiana's premier fishing grounds makes this a purpose-built base for serious anglers and coastal recreation enthusiasts who want to minimize the distance between their campsite and the water. A 40-foot dock and on-site fish cleaning station define the fishing infrastructure at Miles Away Properties, supporting guests who want to move directly from their site to the water with minimal logistical friction. Ample parking for campers, boat trailers, and pickup trucks accommodates the practical realities of traveling with fishing vessels to a barrier island location. The pet-friendly policy allows guests to bring dogs along for the coastal stay, and the campground's informal, work-focused layout is organized around the rhythms of guests whose days are structured around tides, fishing windows, and Gulf weather. Boating, canoeing, and kayaking from the campground's Gulf-adjacent position put guests in direct contact with the coastal marshes, barrier beaches, and open water that define Grand Isle's natural character. Elmer's Island, directly across from the property, protects a stretch of Gulf shoreline that draws birders, shell collectors, and beachcombers—particularly during spring migration, when the island serves as a critical landfall for neotropical songbirds crossing the Gulf from the Yucatán Peninsula. The coastal environment makes wildlife observation a rewarding parallel activity to fishing for guests spending multiple nights at the property. Grand Isle is widely regarded as Louisiana's premier saltwater fishing destination, offering offshore access to amberjack, red snapper, and other Gulf species alongside productive inshore fishing along the marshes, passes, and barrier island flats of the Barataria Bay estuary system. Miles of sandy beach along Grand Isle's Gulf-facing shore are accessible for sunbathing and surf fishing, and local restaurants serve the fresh Gulf seafood that defines coastal Louisiana cuisine. The Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo, held each July, is one of the longest-running fishing tournaments in the country and a signature annual event for the island. Miles Away Properties is open year-round, reflecting Grand Isle's extended Gulf Coast season for fishing and coastal recreation. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor activity, with fall particularly productive for offshore fishing as Gulf waters remain warm through October. Advance planning is essential for July Tarpon Rodeo weekends, when campground and marina space across Grand Isle fills well ahead of the tournament. The property's informal, fisherman-first character makes it most suited to guests whose stays are organized around water-based activity rather than resort-style programming. The park's direct Gulf access and barrier island setting make it one of the more authentically coastal RV experiences available anywhere along Louisiana's shoreline.
