Buckin’ Bass RV Park
Okeechobee, Florida
In Okeechobee, Florida—in Okeechobee County on the northern shore of Lake Okeechobee where the largest freshwater lake in Florida's peninsula and the second-largest entirely within the continental United States sustains the bass fishery that the national freshwater fishing community considers one of the most productive trophy largemouth bass lakes in the world—Buckin' Bass RV Park provides full hookup sites with 50, 30, and 20-amp electric, city water, and sewer on paver patio pads, 10 boat slips with dock access, a fish cleaning station, and the proximity to a public boat ramp less than 2 miles away—the complete angler infrastructure package in a lakeside community park whose boat slip availability, fish cleaning station, and dock access to the Lake Okeechobee rim canal create the most fisherman-forward campground address in the Okeechobee corridor. The slips are on-site. The lake is two miles away. The bass are legendary.
Every site provides full hookup service—50, 30, and 20-amp electric, city water, and sewer—on paver patio pads that create the solid, attractive outdoor living surface that the modern RV pad should provide. The patio configuration at each site creates the chairs-and-grill setup that an Okeechobee fishing stay organizes itself around when the morning launch is over and the afternoon sun is high. Ten boat slips with dock access provide the marina-adjacent infrastructure that the serious Okeechobee angler needs to launch at sunrise without the trailering logistics that a public ramp requires, and the on-site fish cleaning station handles the post-catch processing in the designated facility that keeps the cleaning work off the campsite pad. A public boat ramp less than 2 miles away provides the alternative launch access for guests whose boat configuration prefers the ramp to the slip.
Okeechobee sits in Okeechobee County on US-441 at the northern rim of Lake Okeechobee—the "Big Water" that the Calusa people named—in the agricultural and fishing community that the Herbert Hoover Dike's construction in the 1930s established around the lake's perimeter after the 1926 and 1928 hurricanes demonstrated the human cost of living below the lake's natural water level. The Okeechobee Waterway, which crosses Florida from Stuart on the Atlantic to Fort Myers on the Gulf through Lake Okeechobee, creates the cross-state boating route that makes Okeechobee a port of call for the liveaboard cruising community navigating between the coasts.
The Lake Okeechobee largemouth bass fishery—sustained by the lake's 730 square miles of shallow, vegetation-rich freshwater and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's management program—produces the trophy-class fish that the bass tournament circuit targets in the Bassmaster and FLW Tour events that Lake Okeechobee hosts with regularity. The lake's winter bass season from December through April corresponds with the optimal water temperature for the trophy catch that the fishing community plans its Okeechobee trips around. Airboat tours through the lake's marsh and rim canal provide the wildlife observation alternative for the guest whose interest is the alligators, snail kites, and roseate spoonbills of the Okeechobee ecosystem as much as the trophy bass.
Buckin' Bass RV Park operates year-round in Okeechobee County's subtropical climate, with the December through April bass fishing season the community's peak fishing occupancy and the summer and early fall months serving the year-round Okeechobee angling community whose local knowledge of the lake's seasonal patterns allows productive fishing in every month. Reserve your slip or pad at Buckin' Bass and let the 10 boat slips, the fish cleaning station, and Lake Okeechobee's legendary bass fishery deliver the South Florida freshwater fishing base camp that the Big Water's trophy largemouth reputation has earned.
