Camp Mack

Lake Wales, Florida

70 RV Sites, 8 Cabins, 33 Motel Rooms

Camp Mack in Lake Wales, Florida, is a fishing lodge and RV resort directly on the legendary Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Polk County — a property with boat launch access to Lake Kissimmee, Lake Hatchineha, Lake Cypress, and Lake Tohopekaliga in one of the most famous and most consistently productive trophy largemouth bass fisheries in the world, where the shallow, vegetation-rich interconnected lakes of the upper Kissimmee Basin sustain the bass populations that have produced more documented 10-pound-plus fish than any comparable freshwater system in North America and where the professional bass fishing tournament circuit has held some of its most significant events over five decades of Florida Bassmaster competition. Camp Mack's direct-lake-access positioning gives the fishing guest the immediate boat-to-site convenience that a lake-based fishing resort specifically enables. Fishing lodge and RV resort accommodations with direct boat launch access to the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes give Camp Mack the complete angler's basecamp infrastructure — the boat launch's direct access to the lake system eliminates the daily trailer loading and ramp queuing that lakeside camping without direct water access requires, and the fishing lodge character of the property sustains the guide booking, local knowledge sharing, and fishing-first culture that trophy bass anglers specifically seek when targeting the Kissimmee Chain's big-fish reputation. The property's trophy bass orientation gives the guest community the shared enthusiasm of a fishing camp rather than the diluted recreation-generalist atmosphere of a multi-use resort. Pets are welcome. Lake Kissimmee, the largest lake in the Kissimmee Chain at 35,000 acres, sustains the largemouth bass population that Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's harvest regulation management and the lake's natural productivity — the shallow depth averaging 7 feet, the hydrilla and eel grass vegetation, and the Florida winter warming cycle's spawning stimulus — have concentrated in a density that makes the lake consistently competitive with Lake Okeechobee for the Florida bass fishing supremacy in national fishing publication rankings. The bass spawn from December through March gives the winter fishing season the most concentrated large-fish activity period in the Kissimmee Chain calendar. Lake Tohopekaliga, 20 miles north of Camp Mack at the northern end of the Kissimmee Chain via the Kissimmee River, is the Kissimmee Valley's most celebrated trophy bass lake — a lake whose deepwater hydrilla beds, the Orlando proximity's guide service concentration, and the historic BASS tournament victories at Toho have given it the specific big-bass reputation that Bass Anglers Sportsman Society events have validated on the public record for over 40 years. The Kissimmee chain's interconnected nature via the canals and the Kissimmee River allows anglers based at Camp Mack to access Toho and the full chain system from the single Lake Kissimmee boat launch. Camp Mack serves guests year-round in Polk County's subtropical Florida climate, where the winter bass spawn season from December through March represents the single most productive fishing period and the primary driver of peak occupancy from the Midwest and northeastern bass angling market that travels to Florida specifically for the winter spawning bite. Bok Tower Gardens, 10 miles north of Camp Mack in Lake Wales, is one of Florida's most serene and most distinctive designed landscapes — a 1929 Edward Bok creation on the highest point in Peninsular Florida with a 205-foot Gothic and Art Deco carillon tower, the formal reflection pool, and the 50-acre botanical garden in a setting whose bells play recitals daily and whose peaceful character makes it the most contemplative attraction in the greater Orlando region. Reserve fishing lodge and RV sites months ahead for the winter bass spawn season.
