Sharrah's RV Park
Lake City, Florida
24 RV Sites
Sharrah's RV Park sits just off Interstate 75 in Lake City, Florida, in Columbia County at the northern edge of the Florida peninsula where the landscape transitions from the longleaf pine and wiregrass flatwoods of north-central Florida into the limestone karst country of the Suwannee River watershed and the crystal-spring systems that have made this corner of the state one of the most distinctive freshwater recreation environments in the American South. The park's clean, no-frills character and gated security provide a quiet, family-run camping atmosphere that contrasts with the large commercial resort properties of the I-75 corridor.
Forty-four pull-through sites with full hookups accommodate rigs of all sizes with 30 and 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer. WiFi is available throughout the property, and the pet-friendly environment is enhanced by separate dog parks for large and small breeds—a thoughtful detail that improves the dog park experience for both small and large dogs by eliminating the anxiety mismatch that mixed-size dog areas create. A gated entrance provides the security that extended-stay and overnight interstate travelers consistently value, and the bird and wildlife watching opportunities on the property itself reflect the North Florida wooded setting that surrounds the park.
Lake City serves as the Columbia County seat and occupies a position on the I-10 and I-75 corridor that made it a historically significant North Florida crossroads—first as a cattle and timber trade center, then as a Civil War–era rail junction (the Battle of Olustee, the largest Civil War battle fought in Florida, was fought near Lake City in 1864), and now as a commercial and service hub for the agricultural and forestry economy of Columbia, Baker, Union, and Bradford counties. The Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park preserves the engagement site and provides the most direct interpretation of Civil War Florida history accessible from the park.
Ichetucknee Springs State Park, about 30 minutes from the campground, is one of the most beloved springs in Florida—nine major springs feed the Ichetucknee River with 233 million gallons of 68-degree water daily, and the river's 3.5-mile run through subtropical hardwood forest provides the spring-fed tubing experience that North Florida has perfected into a genuine recreational art form. The river's exceptional clarity—visibility measured in tens of feet in the main spring boil—makes snorkeling along the bottom productive for observing turtles, bass, and the aquatic vegetation that thrives in the constant temperature and chemistry of the spring water. Ginnie Springs, about 45 minutes south, is one of the country's premier freshwater cave diving destinations for certified cave divers.
Sharrah's RV Park operates year-round in the north-central Florida climate where the spring systems make the area a four-season destination—the 68-degree water is refreshingly cool in summer and warm relative to winter air temperatures in November through February. The park's I-75 position makes it a natural stop for Florida-bound travelers from the Midwest and Southeast, and the Ichetucknee tubing season's peak from June through Labor Day brings consistent summer occupancy. The O'Leno and River Rise State Parks, two linked state parks on the Santa Fe River where the river disappears underground and re-emerges three miles downstream, provide a unique geological and recreational day trip option about 20 miles south.
