On the Avenue of the Giants in Myers Flat, California, surrounded on all sides by the ancient coastal redwood forest of Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Giant Redwoods RV and Cabin Destination offers 23 acres of riverfront camping in the most magnificently forested camping corridor on the Pacific Coast. The Eel River runs along the property's edge, providing a private beach, swimming access, and the kind of riverfront setting that simply does not exist at campgrounds outside the redwood belt. When the question is where to stay to fully experience the world's tallest trees, Giant Redwoods occupies a position—inside the Avenue of the Giants, adjacent to Humboldt Redwoods State Park—that makes it the standard against which other Redwood Country campgrounds are measured. The property's 76 RV sites span the full range of hookup configurations: ten sites with full hookups (50-amp), two with full hookups (30-amp), and 41 partial hookup sites, with 29 pull-through positions accommodating rigs up to 80 feet in length—an important detail in a region where large motorhomes are common. Twenty-five tent sites round out the accommodation options for travelers in smaller setups. Glamping cabins provide the most comfortable option on the property, each equipped with heating, air conditioning, smart TVs, mini fridges, and microwaves, with a private dedicated bathroom a short walk from each unit. Restrooms, hot showers, a laundromat, and a general store handle the practical needs of multi-day stays. A playground, volleyball court, and the Eel River beach provide outdoor recreation, and summer outdoor movie nights with a concession stand operating from Memorial Day through Labor Day add an evening entertainment dimension suited to the campground's unhurried atmosphere. The Eel River beach is Giant Redwoods' most distinctive property feature. The river in this section runs clear and cold through wide gravel bars and sandy beaches that provide some of the most pleasant freshwater swimming in Northern California, with the added atmospheric bonus of doing so beneath coast redwoods that tower 300-plus feet above the water. Fishing for steelhead and salmon marks the fall and winter seasons, and the gravel bar environment supports the kingfishers, mergansers, and great blue herons that work the river margins year-round in impressive numbers. Humboldt Redwoods State Park, which the campground sits within, contains the largest contiguous old-growth coast redwood forest in the world—more than 17,000 acres of ancient forest including the Rockefeller Forest, the largest old-growth coastal redwood forest on earth. The Avenue of the Giants itself—a 31-mile scenic alternate to US-101 that winds through the park's most impressive groves—passes literally through the campground, giving guests immediate, zero-drive-time access to groves including Founders Grove, Williams Grove, and Drury-Chaney Loop, where trees exceeding 350 feet in height and 20 feet in diameter stand in concentrations unmatched anywhere on the planet. Giant Redwoods RV and Cabin Destination operates year-round, though summer represents the peak season when the river swimming, movie nights, and redwood forest hiking combine most effectively. Fall brings steelhead to the Eel River and winter fog into the redwood canopy for a distinctly different and equally compelling atmosphere. Riverside sites and glamping cabins book earliest for summer weekends. Reserve your riverfront site and experience the coast redwoods from the most immediate and immersive position available.
