Arrowhead Tree Top Lodge

Lake Arrowhead, California

1 Cabin, 19 Hotel Rooms

Arrowhead Tree Top Lodge in Lake Arrowhead, California, is a mountain retreat at 5,100 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains — a peaceful lodge property tucked into the pine and cedar forest above the Inland Empire, two hours from Los Angeles in San Bernardino County's rim country where the mountain air temperature runs 20 to 30 degrees cooler than the valley floor below and the Rim of the World Drive's panoramic views across the San Bernardino Valley to the Pacific horizon give the Lake Arrowhead corridor its dramatic elevation-versus-valley contrast. The lodge's position at 5,100 feet gives it the specific high-country character that Southern Californians pursue in the San Bernardino Mountains for the summer cool, the conifer forest, and the mountain lake setting that the Los Angeles basin's climate and landscape cannot provide at any distance. Lodge accommodations at the 5,100-foot elevation give guests the mountain-air, forest-fragrance, and cooler-temperature experience that makes the Lake Arrowhead corridor the primary mountain escape for the San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties' summer-heat market. The property's quiet, tucked-into-the-trees character reflects the specific lodge identity that Lake Arrowhead Village's surrounding mountain community sustains in distinction from the urban accessibility that makes it reachable by weekend visitors in two hours from the Los Angeles basin. Pets are welcome. Lake Arrowhead Village, minutes from the lodge at the lake's eastern shore, provides the shopping, dining, and waterfront access that sustains Lake Arrowhead's resort community year-round — the private lake's boat rentals for resort guests, the village's restaurants and boutiques, and the specific mountain village character that the cedar and pine surroundings frame give the lake a resort experience that the San Bernardino Mountains' proximity to the Los Angeles metro has sustained since the 1920s when the lake's developers first created the resort community around the constructed reservoir. The village's mountain town character, preserved by the lake's private status that limits development of the shoreline, gives it a more intact resort community identity than the more accessible mountain lake destinations closer to the LA basin. Big Bear Lake, 25 miles east via State Highway 18's Rim of the World Drive, provides the Big Bear Valley's ski and mountain resort infrastructure — Snow Summit and Bear Mountain ski resorts sustain the winter sports programming that brings the San Bernardino Mountains their winter visitor population, and the summer water recreation on Big Bear Lake itself, the mountain biking trails, and the Big Bear Solar Observatory give the valley a four-season recreation depth that complements the Lake Arrowhead corridor's quieter, more residential mountain character. The Rim of the World Drive connecting Lake Arrowhead to Big Bear through Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake provides the mountain driving experience that gives the San Bernardino Mountains their most compelling single touring route. Arrowhead Tree Top Lodge operates year-round in the San Bernardino Mountains' four-season climate, where the snow season from December through March brings the skiing appeal and the mountain snow experience to within two hours of Los Angeles, and the summer season from June through September provides the mountain cool that remains the primary reason the Los Angeles market specifically pursues the Lake Arrowhead area for summer escapes. Deep Creek Hot Springs, accessible by a 3-mile hike from the Bowen Ranch trailhead, provides the backcountry geothermal soaking experience in a natural creek setting that gives the Lodge a day-hiking destination specific to the San Bernardino Mountains. Reserve accommodations ahead for summer weekends and holiday periods, when the Lake Arrowhead corridor's limited lodging fills from the Southern California mountain escape market.
