4.333 reviewsPositioned alongside the Eel River in Fortuna, California, at the southern gateway to Humboldt County's celebrated redwood coast, Riverwalk RV Park provides a well-appointed full-service campground that functions as a practical and comfortable basecamp for guests exploring one of the most remarkable natural landscapes in the American West—a corridor of ancient coastal redwood forest, wild Pacific coastline, and Victorian-era fishing communities that extends northward from Fortuna through the heart of the California Redwood Coast.
Full hookup pull-through RV sites with high-speed internet and cable television accommodate guests arriving with large motorcoaches and fifth wheels, while cozy cabin rentals with front porch swings and tent sites with water access expand the accommodation options for guests with different preferences. A swimming pool and spa, a recreation center with billiards and ping pong, a clubhouse, a general store, laundry facilities, clean bathrooms and showers, and horseshoe pits give the park a comprehensive on-site amenity profile suited to multi-night stays. The Eel River directly alongside the park provides an immediate riverfront environment for guests who want to fish, wade, or simply sit alongside moving water as the ambient backdrop for their stay.
Humboldt Redwoods State Park, accessible from Fortuna via Highway 101 and the celebrated Avenue of the Giants scenic byway, protects the largest remaining stand of old-growth coast redwood in the world—including Rockefeller Forest, the world's largest contiguous old-growth redwood forest. The Avenue of the Giants itself, a 31-mile scenic alternative route through the park beneath a cathedral canopy of towering redwoods, is among the most dramatically beautiful driving experiences on the Pacific Coast and one of the premier natural heritage corridors in California accessible on a straightforward day trip from the campground.
Ferndale, a Victorian-era dairy farming community nine miles west of Fortuna, is one of the most intact concentrations of ornate Victorian architecture in California—a town of gingerbread homes, working blacksmiths, and family-owned businesses that has been designated a State Historical Landmark and provides one of the more atmospheric and genuinely historic small-town experiences on the northern California coast. The Lost Coast—California's longest undeveloped coastal stretch, accessible via the Kings Range National Conservation Area south of Fortuna—draws backpackers and four-wheel-drive enthusiasts to a remote stretch of Pacific shoreline accessible only on foot or by high-clearance vehicle. Old Town Eureka, 20 miles north, offers additional Victorian architecture, waterfront dining, and the Blue Ox Millworks heritage craft operation.
Riverwalk RV Park is open year-round, with Humboldt County's mild maritime climate keeping temperatures moderate across all seasons—cool and foggy in summer, rainy in winter, and particularly pleasant in the spring and fall shoulder seasons when the redwood parks see lighter visitor traffic than the peak summer period. Summer brings the highest visitor volumes to the redwood corridor, and Humboldt Redwoods State Park campgrounds fill quickly during July and August, making Riverwalk's private amenity package and guaranteed hookup availability particularly valuable for guests planning a peak-season redwood visit. Advance reservations are recommended for summer holiday weekends.

Facility is well-maintained. There are a lot of trees and song birds which creates a pleasant setting. The laundry room was clean and I liked being able to use an ap for payment rather than worrying about running out of quarters. However, I felt use of the washers/dryers was a bit pricey especially because ...Show more

Very nice clean campground, good location, small sites. However, I am of the mindset that if you have a mix of both short term campers and long term inhabitants, then there should be different areas for them as most long term residents no longer abide by park rules or even basic camping etiquette.
